All you need is a small drawing of the deck and where you want to put it when you apply for the permit.
Do you need a deck permit for re-building an old existing deck?

No, only if you are not making any changes to it, but it is advised for the homeowner to get a permit with the city of Anchorage before re-building an existing deck if the homeowner decides to make any changes or make any improvements, such as making it larger.
